WELCOME MESSAGE AFLAR CONGRESS:

JAMBO KARIBU KENYA!
The doors of Nairobi are opened wide to welcome this year’s 10th AFLAR congress. We are grateful to all who are taking part in what AFLAR and ARSK do in order to spark scientific and clinical progress in the field of rheumatology. We welcome physicians, health professionals, patients and patient groups, industry representatives to form a unique platform to discuss and debate the challenges of rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases with improvement opportunities. There is an impressive growth in the quality and quantity of presentations at this year’s conference. Contributions from health care professionals in the rheumatology field and patients with arthritis/ rheumatism will enrich the scientific content of the conference. Emerging topics in rheumatology in Africa this year include use of biologics, discussion of new diagnostic guidelines amongst other interesting topics. We have also included musculoskeletal ultrasound workshops that will be running concurrently with the conference. The conference will be a CPD accredited activity. The congress venue will offer ample spaces for all participants to follow the sessions, network with fellow health professionals as well as patients. The venue will also accommodate our industry partners to exhibit and network with health care professionals.
I believe that it will be an excellent meeting, not only in development of rheumatology, but also in friendships and collaboration. The above highlights have been possible and realized thanks to the untiring effort and support of AFLAR members, including the organizing, scientific, executive committees and sponsors. I wish you an enjoyable time in Nairobi, and look forward to interacting with you during the conference.
